Pastor Terry Laughlins Biblical Explanation of Message Presentation Introduction
Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction. (2 Timothy 4:2) This letter and compilation of messages in transcript format is for the purpose of informing all who would enquire about how I do Biblical message presentation. On many occasions I have people walk in my office with the purpose of informing me on how they would like to see me do messages for the Lord. Although they mean well it has done more damage than good and I found my self frustrated and unable to focus on what God has called me to do. To help me find peace of mind and fulfill Gods mandate of being able with great patience and careful instruction (2 Timothy 4:2) teach others what the Lord has called me to do, I have prayerfully sought out the Word of God and put together this compilation of information in hopes to answer any questions or settle any concerns regarding Biblical message presentation. Hebrews 13:7 tells me Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Considered the outcome of way of life and imitate their faith. Over the course of 20+ years the Lord raised up preachers of the Word of God who have had an influence on my life, men who have been tested by trials, proved faithful to preach the whole counsel of Gods Word and who have withstood the test of time. Preachers like, Pastor / Teacher Chuck Swindoll, Dr David Jeremiah, Pastor David Wilkerson, Pastor Carter Conlyn, Pastor John MacArthur, Pastor Rick Warren and especially Homiletical Teacher James Braga. It is my Biblical conviction that what the Lord speaks to me should be written down and I must be diligent in these matters. (Romans 12:6; 2 Timothy 4:1-2; 1 Timothy 4:13-15; Exodus 17:14; Isaiah 8:1; 30:8; Jeremiah 45:1; Malachi 3:16) The Holy Spirit on several occasions has led me to Isaiah 8:1, The Lord said to me, Take a large scroll and write on it with an ordinary pen I love what Matthew Henry wrote in regard to the truths proclaimed in this passage of Scripture, Those who speak and write of the things of God should avoid obscurity, and study to speak and write so as to be understood. For this reason I have studied the Word of God and read messages of men whom God has put before my life, preachers who have put the messages spoken through them into print. It is my hope and prayer that as you take time to read the messages done through me and the messages written through Pastor David Wilkerson, Pastor John MacArthur and Pastor Rick Warren you gain understanding of how the Holy Spirit leads me to exercise the Holy Spirit gift of prophesying. I thank my Lord Jesus Christ for leading me to the teachings of Gods Word and the examples set before me as these preachers apply the homiletical structure taught to them. As the Lord makes the way I hope to learn from others who have the same convictions as I have on Biblical exposition. Until that time it is my hope that you will allow the Holy Spirit to give you understanding on my convictions; and I pray that the Lord will lead you to the house of God that proclaims the Word of God in a way that feeds you and your family the life giving truth found only in Holy Scripture. |
