Testimony of

Russel Hockmuth

Russell Hockmuth was raised in a Christian home,  went to church a lot and knew about God.  When he was ten years old he was introduced to pot and soon entertained thoughts of suicide.  He hated himself and God so he rebelled.  However, at age seventeen he accepted Christ, but later backslid.  As the result of his walking away from the Lord, Russell was surrendered over to the sinful nature which is found in all of mankind.    He  writes, “I started using drugs on a regular basis and quickly became curiously fascinated by the dark side of the supernatural.”  He explored the occult, dabbled in satanism, practiced rituals, cast spells and sacrificed animals.  As the years went on he moved to acid, PCP, mescaline, heroin and whatever he could to escape or alter reality.  From there he became deeply involved in black magic which he believes is the most powerful and horrifying form of satanic worship.

After reaching the point of losing his mind he ended up in the hospital from a suicide attempt and then into a mental institution.  There he suffered hallucinations and demonic oppression.  As the consequence of living for self,  Russell tasted the bondage of the flesh, the powerlessness of worldly institutions and the powers of the dark side.

Eventually Russell was blessed with the great opportunity of going to Teen Challenge.  While there he recommitted his heart and life back to Jesus Christ.  At Teen Challenge he learned the Biblical approach to overcoming the flesh, the world and the deceptions of Satan.

Like the demon-possessed man who lived in the region of the Gerasense. (Mark 5: 1 - 19)  Russell now wants to tell all who will listen about how Jesus has healed him from all the afflictions and bondages that once held him powerless to live a healthy productive life for Christ.  He writes, “He [the Lord] is restoring my mind and showing me how to live a new way.  I am confident that with God not only can I stay clean in this world, but also He can use me to impact this world for Christ. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!  My desire is to tell others about Jesus and what He has done for me.

No matter what you have done or whom you have served with your life and heart,  God will forgive you and the Lord Jesus will come into your life, if you would with a repentant heart invite Him in.  Jesus is able to deliver you from the lust of the flesh,  the lures of the world and the deceptions of the devil.

What keeps you from accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord?  Would you like Russell Mockmuth, be healed of what afflicts you and come to know the joy of having Christ set you free from the bondages that hold you captive,  those sins that keep you from living a life which is pleasing to God?

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”  (John 8:36)
